Should I ever try installing tiles myself?
Only if you’ve worked as a tile installer in the past! Installing tiles is a precise business, so we don’t recommend trying your hand at it if you don’t know what you’re doing. You need the right tools, equipment, and expertise. If you do it yourself and don’t get your edges quite level, you’ll be cursing yourself every time you look at your floor or walls. Save yourself the stress and leave it to the experts.
How do I need to prepare the surface for tile installation?
Before new tiles are installed, we need a smooth, dry surface to work with that’s free from holes, uneven spots, and cracks. If your surface isn’t in this condition, don’t worry. We’ll prepare the floor properly so that you get the best tiling result. Ask us about this during your consultation and we’ll explain exactly what we can do.
Can you install tile over tile?
Yes, you can. Installing tile over tile is quite common, but new tiles should never be installed on top of cracked, broken, uneven, or dirty tiles. New tiles should only ever be fitted over clean, smooth existing tiled surfaces.
How much does tile installation cost?

How long does tile installation typically take?
Tile installation can take anywhere from 2 to 12 days, depending on the size of the job. We’ll always give you a bespoke estimate for your tile installation job as part of your Tile King consultation.
How long do newly installed tiles take to dry?
Once your tiles have been fitted, you’ll need to leave them to dry for at least 24 hours. That means you won’t be able to walk on them or touch them for a whole day to make sure they don’t move out of place during this crucial stage. We usually tile a room at a time, but you might prefer to move out or book a trip away while we install your tiles so you’re not worried about accidentally knocking them.
How should I clean my new tiles?
When your tiles have been installed and left to dry for the recommended 24 hours, the best way to clean them is with a damp cloth or sponge. After 6 months or so, you might want to invest in professional tile and grout cleaning to give them a deep clean, helping them to stay looking new for as long as possible.
