What Our Customers Say About Us
FAQs About The Different Types of Tiles
What’s the most durable type of tile?
Quality porcelain tiles are the most durable types of tiles. They are strong, straight, and the most resistant to water and staining. That’s why tiles made from these materials are often used on kitchen floors and in other areas that receive a high amount of traffic. Speak to us about your requirements and we’ll provide you with recommendations for your individual needs.
What’s the most water-resistant type of tile?
Porcelain tiles are the most water-resistant type of tile, which makes them the perfect choice for a bathroom or kitchen. Porcelain tiles have a very low absorption rate, so they’re a great option for a room where there’s a lot of moisture or where splashes are more likely.
What’s more durable: porcelain or ceramic tile?
Both porcelain and ceramic tiles are extremely durable, hard-wearing options for your flooring. However, porcelain is slightly more dense and therefore less porous than ceramic tiles, meaning porcelain just has the edge when it comes to which is most durable. Either are a solid choice though, and will serve you well in the Dubai heat.
Can you use porcelain tile outside?
Porcelain tiles are among the most hard-wearing types of tiles, so they’re well-suited to outdoor areas, such as terraces or outdoor dining spaces. Porcelain is able to cope with higher temperatures than many other kinds of tiles, so it’s the perfect option if you live in the UAE.
What’s the best type of outdoor tile for the Dubai climate?
Porcelain tiles are an ideal choice for outdoor spaces in Dubai, as they have a low absorption rate, are incredibly durable, and cope well in the UAE heat. This type of tile is both weather and water-resistant – if it’s installed properly, it’s unlikely to crack, even when the sun is ‘cracking the flags’.
What’s the difference between natural stone and porcelain tiles?
Lots of people ask this one – porcelain tiles are made using a mixture of silica and clay, whereas natural stone is typically cut from the earth.Porcelain tiles are extremely dense and if it’s a good quality, non-porous. This makes for an extremely durable tile that can handle the heat and moisture found in the UAE. Porcelain tiles can also come with a much lower price tag than natural stone too.
How many tiles are needed for a square meter typically?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to how many tiles you’ll need per square meter, as it depends on the size of the tile. The Tile King team will help you with your measurement, so you know exactly how much to buy for your renovation project.
Can you also help with tile installation?
You bet we can. Once you’ve selected your preferred types of tiles at our Dubai store, we’ll handle the tile installation process for you too, while our sister company Grout King will take care of all your grouting needs.
